Socks, Socks, Socks

I love making socks. That’s a fact.  And giving them to people I love gives me the greatest pleasure and satisfaction.

I don’t know what it is about socks.  Maybe it’s the thought that the recipient will think of me when they are worn?  Maybe I just like the knowledge that the person I gifted them to will be always warm and cosy.  Or maybe I have a sock making fetish? I don’t know, but I do know that I love making socks.

Every time I’m in a wool shop, I judge the wool by its sock making quality. The Schachenmayr Regia wool has been a long-time favourite of mine as it creates a lovely pattern in the sock as you knit. However recently, I’ve expanded into different realms and found other wools that are equally exciting to work with.  In the beginning I felt a bit guilty for “cheating” on my favourite sock wool, but when I saw the results from my newly found wools, my guilt quickly changed into excitement. It was then that my new addiction for creating patterns in my socks was born.

These patterns will be added to my website as soon as I have worked out the nit-bits of patterns and sizing.  Now I am off to make more socks.  Have I already told you that I love making socks?
